I believe this is an improved SJ reflecter head

Would be nice if you could get surface search to work on SD up-down mast.
SJ @ P/D,would be the cats meow,although it may be only late war historicaly correct

Default Sorry Capt.Advart,my bad

Advart P.S.
Ok. I am right ... It's right model for SV Radar ...

I have found SVRadar as UpgradePack in NSS_Balao.ups, NSS_Gato.ups, Equipment.ups and UpgradePacks.ups ...
And i have found NSS_SS (it's parent object for NSS_SS_Head) in NSS_Balao.sns and NSS_Gato.sns as cfg#R02... node (Air Radar)
and in Equipment.ups ...

Looked the same as on my ship. But you are correct.

Actually, unlike SD radar, SV radar could pick up surface contacts:

Quote:

SV, SV-a, SV-1 SEARCH RADAR

Maximum reliable range. (miles):
Bombers, at 30,000 ft 7.5
Bombers, at 10,000 ft 10
Fighters, at 10,000 ft 12
Battleships 12.5
Cruisers 15
Destroyers 10
Submarines, surfaced 7.5

In game:
Late SD:
PreciseRange = 23000 m;
MaxRange = 111120;
MinHeight = 80;
MaxHeight = 5000;
ElevationMin = 359°;
ElevationMax = 90.

SV radar:
PreciseRange = 23000 m;
MaxRange = 12000;
MinHeight = 6;
MaxHeight = 2500;
ElevationMin = 359°;
ElevationMax = 60.

Anvart, you are correct, that is the SV radar antenna. It is similar but significantly larger than the late war SJ-1 antenna.

The object names are not always correct but those are not supposed to be seen by the public. The confusion is based on a wrongly labeled drawing in a book.

The actual SS antenna is relatively small and looks "identical" to the early - non slotted - SJ radar antenna. Not modelled but I guess you could make a "clone". The SS appeared after the war so it was not one of our targets.

The rest of the devices mentioned are just there to help recreate the look of US submarines going through wartimes changes.

Hi, All.
Some people asked to me questions about SV Radar Antenna, and ...
I have inserted Balao sub with date later than 8/30/1945 into my test (single) mission ...
And certainly this submarine has been equipped by SV Radar Antenna ...
That at testing there were no hindrances from other devices I has made SV radar antenna mast rising also as SD radar antenna ...
But on periscopic depth SV antenna head rose above water on height insufficient for work of SV radar, therefore I have changed max_height parameter of obj_Extensible controller from 5 meters to 6 meters ...
Look that we have ...

Balao sub under water:

SV radar antenna is raised. We see messages "Radar contact ...":

And on the map we see not only airplanes, but also the ships !!!

All very well, and I think may be it's necessary make raising/lowering for SV radar antenna too ...???

But there is also unpleasant moment... SV antenna head rotates all time and under water too ... :rotfl:

Yes, but those are stock values, and they are way off the mark. RFB fixes that.

Do not forget it's 1.4 version ...
