Instead of sticking with Kirk / Spock / McCoy, etc, I'd really love to see them do the years Spock was working with Capt Pike (if they wanted to do a series, that is). And yes, I agree, this movie will either be the best of the bunch, or it'll bury the franchise (for about 10 years, when it will, like a zombie, rise from the dead once again).

I hope I live long enough to see the day when there will be new "old" Star Trek episodes. All CGI, with the original crew in their prime, at such a high level of realism, no one can tell the difference between the CGI and real life. With better effects and props, great new stories, same old Kirk, Spock, and McCoy in the Enterprise.

Maybe 20 years from now?

One of our local stations here in Fort Lauderdale was playing these at 6 AM on Saturday mornings for a few months.

Just the episode of "The Doomsday Machine" was MORE than worth the re-done effects.

No, I mean new episodes, with complete CGI.

I did catch one of those upgraded shows a couple months ago. Man, I was really weirded out, here was this ol' Star Trek show on late night... and some of the ship and planet orbit effects were fantastic! I didn't know about the upgrades, I had no idea what was going on but I was telling my friends for weeks how GREAT my Samsung TV is!

Neal, do you know about this: http://www.startreknewvoyages.com/ ? It's fan based but for me it's kind of good and cool. And at least one can see the "original crew" new adventures...

hi Rhodes, yeah, I came across that somewhere. It's nice to see the enthusiasm for the series live on in small projects like that.
