American Submarine warfare is the opposite of the battle of the Atlantic. Basically I've found that my odds of surviving the war in the Pacific as being about 70-80 percent. Surviving the war as a U-boat skipper? About 0%. But it's fun to see how far I can get.
And it's nice to see 60 ship convoys once in a while (I scripted my SH3 campaign with looping convoys because the random ones suck IMO). By scripting them I can have very different escort configurations, sometimes with sweepers 10,000 meters away from the main body. And after scripting a couple hundred convoys--there's no way of knowing what you'll run into. The downside is they don't go into ports but just get close and turn around and head back. It'd rare to see the same convoy twice in a career though. |

I recently reinstalled it plus SHIII Commander 2.7, and GWX 1.03 with 1.03 expansion, plus some other mods.

You needed to add more responses. I do not play SH3 as I have studied the ATO. Read every book I could get my hands on concerning the ATO and watch Das Boot numerous times. Played the game enhanced by GWX. Now it is time to do much the same in the PTO. Plenty of books already read and more on order. I have a few movies in my library. I have volunteered to restore the USS Torsk which I love doing with great satisfaction. It gets to be more of a study and learning type deal for me. With a bit of imagination playing SH4, attempting to get the full effect without stealing the USS Torsk and taking her for a cruise in the Chesapeake Bay.

I'm not having a good time playing as Americans.
The only reason I play SH4 and not SH3 currently is because there are warships instead of boring merchants in it. |

I've been reading WWII sub history since I was about 10. (That's almost 40 years
![]() @ SteamWake: I've found that in SH4--as long as I'm carefull--I can survive. It's usually a plane that gets me and that's because I got careless and didn't dive for the day like I should have. It doesn't hurt that I've been playing subsims since Gato came out for the C64. Subsims and love=Experience Counts ![]() Cheers! Peto |
