re bureaucratic crooks--

there was a "dispatches" last week which showed mp's (including tessa jowell and david cameron) using their housing allowance (taxpayer money supposed to pay for hotel rooms in london to allow mps to do their job) to pay for houses outside london, sell those houses, and keep the profit.

also showed there was a whole section of the tax code for mps -- 1 set of laws for us, and another for the ruling elite. so much for democracy.

speaking of local councils...

nothing but the best where I live you know.

Motorists are being fined for parking in a space reserved for doctors - even though the surgery closed five years ago.
Quote:
Andy Thomas, head of city development at Leicester City Council, said the authority planned to remove the space.

He said: "By law, that means we have to advertise the proposal in draft form for three weeks, and then another advert confirming it for another six weeks.

"We hope to publish the first advert this month, and if nobody objects, we hope to be able to remove the parking space in January 2008."
I guess they've all been to busy spending our ever increasing council tax, closing down local community centres and levying out of date parking fines to be bothered to do something about this.

The closer you end up scrutinising issues like these the more you end up seeing things that are so badly wrong.
