It's probably a way for the Mozilla team to generate some revenue. I mean, Mozilla foundation has to make money somehow right? Without some source of cash for development, FF would not even exist.

I ahve no problem if it is off by default.
It is not a breach of privicy if some one asks you if you want a security camera in your house and you say no.
