I am against such bonusses. As a voluntary soldier, you are a pro, doing your duty. Doing your duty is obligatory in your job. Doing your duty must not be thanked for - because it is a duty. I see this very much like the "old Prussians".

Get the essence of what I say, before heating up your sentiments. I know that I can easily be misunderstood here.

What I would like to see very much instead, is a far better payment of soldiers and everyone signing in to risk his life in the name of his people in general. What is being payed now I do not consider to be a fair example of "give and take". If you afford the luxury to operate a standing army with a solid risk of sending it into combat around the globe, treat them accordingly. In the end, medals is nothing your family can buy their bread with, if you get killed. Better payment, and better family support in the case of you know what, is of much better use for soldiers.

I belong to another forum and the issue of rewriting WW2 came up some months ago, guys from here in the UK, America, New Zealand, Australia and so on said it's going on now in schools to different degrees.

It's called a community showing it's appreciation for you doing your duty. It's a hell of a long shot calling it a bonus.

Yes. But I would prefer a better general payment. I mean, polciemen also do not get a special bonus (or however you want to all it) because they arrested someone, or becasue they went of patrol in a damngerous part of the city, or were envovled in a shooting incident. They do their duty - every day. And this is to be appreciated - every day. And as I said before, duty is duty. I oppose the idea of rewarding it. Duty means it has an obligation coming from itself. I suspect recruitment levels would be very low if all you had to offer was a sense of
duty. If you don't reward duty with a pay check then you don't get duty!
Unless of course........(Must be a German thing!)
