Go to jail... Meet Bubba The Big Angry Guy.
Join the Army... Less chance of meeting Bubba. Is there really any need for further discussion? |

I am against such bonusses. As a voluntary soldier, you are a pro, doing your duty. Doing your duty is obligatory in your job. Doing your duty must not be thanked for - because it is a duty. I see this very much like the "old Prussians".
![]() Get the essence of what I say, before heating up your sentiments. I know that I can easily be misunderstood here. What I would like to see very much instead, is a far better payment of soldiers and everyone signing in to risk his life in the name of his people in general. What is being payed now I do not consider to be a fair example of "give and take". If you afford the luxury to operate a standing army with a solid risk of sending it into combat around the globe, treat them accordingly. In the end, medals is nothing your family can buy their bread with, if you get killed. Better payment, and better family support in the case of you know what, is of much better use for soldiers.

Yes. But I would prefer a better general payment. I mean, polciemen also do not get a special bonus (or however you want to all it) because they arrested someone, or becasue they went of patrol in a damngerous part of the city, or were envovled in a shooting incident. They do their duty - every day. And this is to be appreciated - every day. And as I said before, duty is duty. I oppose the idea of rewarding it. Duty means it has an obligation coming from itself. If you reward it every time when it is fulfilled, you make it a service then. Which is not what "duty" is about.

duty. If you don't reward duty with a pay check then you don't get duty! Unless of course........(Must be a German thing!) ![]() *edit* Too obscure?
