TDK,

Exactly man, especially the MODS that make a lot of changes it pays to shop around and read the FAQs, readmes and docs attached to each. I myself have closely followed and used the TM mods up to the latest. I was well aware of the changes made to traffic by Tater's mod which is included in TM.

Its my cup of tea....but its not for all. I just started a new carreer out of Pearl and will spend about 15 days transitting to the east coast of Japan. I really have no idea if we will run into any targets but frankly I do not care...for me its just the waiting that is the fun part.

To each his own and enjoy the wonderful world of SH4. Its really good now!

TM 1.62 and taters mod for me. Exciteing patrol and no shortage of tonnage.

With this setup I feel like a real Sub Commander until, my wife yells at me to come to bed.

Keep in mind a benefit of less traffic - when you do come across something the pressure to succeed becomes intense. It's a lot more fun knowing there are some negative consequences if you screw up and get detected early. The added pressure really adds to the experience.

Yeah, I like that fact that when I find somethign to shoot, my heart starts beating a little faster. In stock, contacts become so routine.

I remember playing Warbirds ages ago in the Historical Arena (very limited icons, everything turned on realism wise, historical plane matchups, etc). I was flying from New Guinea in a P-40, and after a long long time flying to no avail, I spotted a dot. I closed, and below me was a lone Zero. I set up and dived on him---and seriously, me heart was in my throat. After over an hour (real time) with no contacts I was so excited to see a target, and I didn;t want to blow it. As I dove below him (to come up slightly low 6) I was thinking, "he MUST see me, he's waiting to break so I blow my E." I ended up with a clean bounce and killed him, but it was a huge rush.

Another time a buddy and I were flying a practice for a Coral Sea event, and we stumbled upon a large formation of jap CV planes also in practice. Same drill, long flight, no action, then a short, intense fight, and suddenly no contacts anywhere again.

So true!

I came across a big task force two nights ago and fired on a Fuso in the center. I was not only freaked about all the escorts so close to me as I rose to PD in the middle of the mess (and thus hurried) but when I saw 1 hit, 1 dud, and 2 fishies missing the target I knew I was hooked. I was only a master of sampan killing and a small freighter until I ended up in the right place at the right time on that patrol.

Crushing as it continued past and I caught hell, but it sure inspired me to get better at my quick solutions.

Is TM 1.5 still up for download? I think it's gone missing on my system. :O I wouldn't mind going back to tweaking it from there myself though I do like Tater's latest camp mods.

I have found 1.5 for all you who want to revert. The filefront.com link has the 1.5 file.

Thanks for all the great replies. I stick with 1.62 for a while and see how it goes. I'm downloading the 1.5 TM just in case though :-) I just wanted to make sure there's nothing wrong with my installation and everything seems to be working "as designed".

Good hunting!

The traffic isn't terribly different between the 2, actually. I started at the beginning of the war, and I'm working to the end, so the camapign has more tweaked late war stuff in 1.6, the early is identical---actually, 1.5 might actually have less, I tuned 1.6 up a little from 1.5 i think (in the 41a layers).
