Default La Paz and big ships !

This is La Paz in mexico home of the gulf of mexicos oil storage,

Well today i act as a pilot im helping the massive tanker jahre viking out of port and into deep water.
Its not easy, the tanker is 565,000 tonnes when she is loaded, and is 1,504 feet long, she is so large that she cannot transit the suez and panama canals.

My destination for today is just ouside La Paz harbour, where the massive ship can then make her own way, escorted of corse by two tugs to make sure she stays on track.

Jahre viking was built in 1979 and has under gone many changes since then, in 1988 she was sailing as happy giant when she was bombed and half sunk in the persian gulf, raised and restored she was lengthend to become the worlds largest ship.

Jahre Vikings destination is more than 4000nm away in hong kong, she will travel accross the pacific and reach hong kong, in about a week and a half time, after she has reached hong kong she will travel on and finaly moor up in dubai.

These are some pictures of the pull out, this took over an hour to do!

Two tankers along side each other can you see the diffrence in size?

A view of the ship taking on the last of her cargo in La Paz

This is what she looks like from the bridge tiny isnt it!

Departing Laz Paz for the open ocean and her two destinations.

ERRRM yeah this is kind of worrying !
