Some good references for anyone to look at:
Conway's All The World's Fighting Ships: 1860-1905 Conway's All The World's Fighting Ships: 1906-1921 Conway's All The World's Fighting Ships: 1922-1947 Submarines Of World War Two, by Erminio Bagnasco German Destroyers OF World War Two, by A.J. Whitley (this one is a great listing of all technology and history of individual ships and operations) Naval Weapons Of World War Two, by John Campbell www.navweaps.com I also have a fairly complete collection of Warship Quarterly, by Conway's. No one studying naval history should miss these. Period.
