The correct protocol would have been to post a link to maerean_m's original post Steps to automatically determine speed using 1.3 Patch in order to show the member the information he was seeking.

Here is what I do. It works on targets within 1000 yds.
** AS ALWAYS OPEN TUBE DOORS FIRST ** 1. Lock the target in your crosshairs. 2. TURN OFF the TDC. 3. On the torpedo spread dial set 5+ degrees for slow torps and 10+ degrees for fast torps AHEAD of the direction of travel of the target. 4. THIS IS IMPORTANT. Go to the speed setting dial and set the speed to 0. Press the red button to send the speed to the TDC and then quickly fire the torpedo. You have now basically done the same as you have in SHIII when your lead the target with your scope crosshairs and "hip shot". However instead of leading the target with your crosshairs you are now centering the target on your crosshairs and leading the target with the spread angle on the TDC. Same principle, just different application due to different equipment. .

Jumping your ASS?
Gimme a break. I was just asking you to show some manners and a little respect(and maybe a little class). If that is too much to ask of you then I apologize. JCC |

for JCC Edification.
In my lifetime I have found that thoughtfulness,is a more important priority.Of course it includes manners, but class is all show,& has little integrity.Public computerized information on an open forum is public property. Sharing is thoughtfulness. you & I DISAGREE,on very basic values.I did nothing wrong.your apology is invisoned slander combined with the preamble, you have convinced me

![]() ![]() When you're quoting, it is polite to name the person you're quoting so people know it's a quote and not an original text. Here on subsim, I would call it "valor at sea". We all make mistakes, live & learn. Quote:
And I can take a constructive criticism. PS: the damage model and ship zoning worked great in SH3 because the guy who did it is a genius, but then he left a few months before SH4, and that code remained without a clear owner.

It would be polite,if our hard-cash,feeds you, that you help fix our last grievances where SHIV is concerned.
As for my post, not knowing clicking post # would give link address.I was trying to be thoughtful, and save the OP reading entire thread. "I can take a constructive criticism". So can I,if done without attacking. Attacking,I return fire. Thanks for your response. ![]() Last edited by donut; 08-09-07 at 02:09 AM. |

Also, I trust you're aware that any additional development time on the game is entirely at the discretion of Ubisoft management, and not the development team? (I wouldn't be surprised if the devs would find themselves in extremely hot water if they took it upon themselves to develop further patches in their own time.) |

Not to hijack the thread (and I apologize for not giving credit to the original author of the alphabet in writing this:rotfl: ) I am still puzzled by the TDC.
Excuse my simplistic approach but it seems like there should be a way to go from bow to stern tubes set at zero without doing a complete reset manually with multiple inputs. One is concerned that switching all the dials to set up either effectively stands down the other station. That is simply not realistic nor good gaming. If you had two targets one bow one stern and both had zero firing solutions you could not do it in SH4 but could have easily done so in real life (and in SH3). There should be a switch that allows a default to zero when going from bow to stern so your starting position is relative to that position. The time it takes to reset to zero so many things in a DD charging situation does not reflect reality and it seems to me that could be implemented without a major change. Am I mistaken? Wulfmann

To do a hip shot (bow or stern) , I follow this procedure:
1. Set the speed indicator to 0 and press "Send to TDC" 2. Make sure there is a number in "Distance" in the PK. If there isn't, you will get the message "Cannot compete solution..." or something. (The number is 0 at the start of a mission, to change it, move the distance marker on the attack data tool and press the "Send to TDC", only needed once in a mission, and only if you haven't used the TDC before in the mission) 3. Make sure there is no spread set on the torpedos Now for the fun part: 4. Point the scope/TBT in the direction you want to fire 5. Press "Send to TDC" on the distance page of the attack data tool 6. Press fire 7. Cheer as the torpedo hits its target 8. Find a new target 9. Repeat 4-8 for each target This works in any direction. So to do a quick hip shot or two in a pressing situation, all that is normally needed is to set the speed dial to 0 once, point, click and shoot ![]() |
