the big starwars ships are shown in movies with windows with people behind; for the sizes given to fit the average storm trooper must be about 50 foot tall.

the same issue pops up with enterprise, we often see the captain staring out of his little window while the camera zooms away, following scale his cabin takes up about a 5th of the ship. which probably only has room for about 12 people on board.
Yeah, they used to do this when they only had to work with models. Expect real scale people from now on due to CGI taking over the role of the models. CGI will scale everything appropriately.

Where is the ultimate spaceship? I do not see the Death Star on this page! It would probably take up the whole page and then some though.

The Death Star is a Space station (or a small moon )

If you look at the star trek ships they seem a bit more realistic compared to the US Aircraft carriers then say those star wars/babylon 5 ships... :p

Damn right, I found the BSG ships, thought they were bigger than that lol. Shame they didn't include the ships from firefly, see how an alliance cruiser would shape up to galactica :p

Size doesn't matter

Take the size of that Executor...then compare it to the Krenim Imperium Temporal Incursion ship (hint, it's to the left of the Borg Cubes).

1550 meters vs 17484 meters....hardly a match, you'd think.

But...when that same tiny Krenim ship goes back in time and wipes out the founding planet of the Galactic Empire before they'd even reached space flight....then you realise just how much size matters

Yep! And don't forget the tiny spacecraft that killed the Death Stars
You would be refering to the X-wings

(My avatar - WTF?! lol)
X-Wings, the Millenium Falcon, and the A-Wing that smashed into Executor's bridge and sent it spiraling into the Death Star II
Don't forget the Y-Wings- The workhorse of the Rebel Fleet!

Just started watching Firefly, which will probably never be aired in Germany (RTL has the rights but doesnt do anything about it).
So I got the DVD.
Best SciFi for a long time, even better than the new BSG (barely).
On the other hand, I've always been a Joss Whedon fan so I wasnt suprised it turned out so well.

Well now, both of you are getting a bit technical, but let me lay this down on you (my turn to get technical) - the Death Star not only moves, but has to be able to go light speed so that it can pop into its current favorite star system and blow away the planets! Mr. Obiwan Kenobi - got it partially correct, it was not a small moon, but he screwed up when he called it a space staion! This is a moving tactical ship we are dealing with here, not something that can't move and is stationary.

On top of this, I see space stations also listed on this poster! So there! :p

Now light speed eh? they actually say hyper space in Star Wars (at most occasions at least). And logically, it has to go faster than the light, 'cause the speed of light isn't nearly fast enough to be the way they travel in Star Wars. For example: It takes the light from the nearest stars to our planet (except "Sol" or "Sun", our own star) Proxima Centauri 4,2 years to reach Earth. And that is our closest stars. The Galaxy far far away has to be very small or packed together if the inhabitants are able to travel between solarsystems within a couple of hours at a speed of 299 792 458 meters per second. I find that very unlikely, so my guess is that either:
1. They use a speed metric system that is different than ours (which they actually do when I come to think of it, Parsek as they call it) OR they use the same, but means something different.

2. The physical laws doesn't quite work the same in Galaxy X (name unknown). There is actually some proofs that this might be the case (sound in space, explosions in space, working lightsabers, laser beams that is visible for the human eye).
