The UPCData folder has many submarine/ammo/refit files that list renown cost. Adjusting the amount you get for ships sunk, missions etc means a lot of work, though.

You know, the whole name of it, "renown" is kind of off-putting, but if you think of it in terms of performance, aggressiveness, etc, all the things the bosses valued in their endorsements, it actually makes a lot of sense. The problem is that like everything else in the game, it's kind of half-baked.

That does bring up a good question . . . would they give partial damage for positively damaging a major vessel . . . I have read actual WWII patrol logs, which credits a boat for damaging this warship or that warship . . . taking it out of the fight for X amount of months due to the need to repair and refit it in drydock somewhere away from battle.
