Gino, thank you for posting these, sir. It's somewhat difficult to come by high resolution reference material of this particular panel.
Anything more you're looking for?

groetjes,

I'll be in the area in about three weeks, not sure I'll have time to visit the Cod but I'll try. I did visit the Lionfish a couple of years back.

Well, durn, all this time in CLE (entire family from that region) and I never knew there were posters from the USS Cod group here?? I've been on that boat 3 times, I think. Last time, dragged my wife through. She actually enjoyed it. (Keeper )

Real shame you don't let people in the Con or higher, though. Adults, at least - I mean, I can see no kids (what they would do to the controls in USS Blueback out here sent shivers down my spine!)

@ Gino,

agreed, the Devs did quite a nice job on this - but there's always room for improvement. Sadly, with absence of a SDK, modifications of 3D interiors / texture mapping are atm rather limited. For the moment i'm modifying SH4's 2D art, i.e. using higher res textures than default, to improve legibility and overall appearance.

Comparison of stock SH4 gauges (1024x1024):

and modified gauges i'm working on (2048x2048):

!any pointers concerning the gauges are highly appreciated!

The shots of the torpedo firing panel you kindly posted gave me some ideas for the 2D periscope overlay (WIP):

Awesome job!

Looks impressive. Below some pictures that may give you some more detail. However, I had to scale these down. If you want one in higher resolution the pm me with your e-mail and I'll send the original to you.

Unfortunately, some adults behave like their kids...

There is also an insurance thingy. There is no direct supervision inside the conning tower. Thereofre the insurance company doesn't cover that area. If somebody would get hurt up there we'd have a huge financial problem.

BUT... we are working on a plan to let "special visitors" inside the conning tower. We MAY even have the TDC running for these visitors.
When that will happen I don't know. We first need to asses if anybody is willing to pay extra for a looooong guided tour... And it will probably be off-season (so the boat might be cold)

I'll keep the forum posted on this one.

groetjes,

By the way, Museum Ships is this weekend:

The USS Torsk is my sub. I volunteer there to restore. The conning tower is closed to visitors. Just to cramped and not part of the tour. Since I'm a volunteer, I get free run of the sub. The conning tower has the original WW2 attack scope and post WW2 observation scope. Besides, there are so many switches, etc. no need to have visitors up there swipping things.....and they do
