They eat lutefisk in Minnesota too, usually with lefse. "White on white on white" at Christmas (Snow, dontchaknow then.)

Here you can see the pennant, a broom attached to the periscope (indicating a "clean sweep" patrol), Captain Morton on the bridge, and then-XO Dick O'Kane on the cigarette deck.

It's from "The Bravest Man" by William Tuohy...a book about Dick O'Kane that my fiance (if a girl buys you books on Dick O'Kane, you friggin marry her!) bought me for my birthday...I haven't read "Clear the Bridge" but this one is great so far.
