Depends on your perspective of "peace." There is peace by co-existence (preferable but nearly impossible), and then there is peace by domination (the "easy" road).

As for stupid growing up, you're not stupid if you didn't know. After all, life is a learning experience, with some lessons being more harsh than others. As long as you learned something and can gain insight from that experience then it was a worthwhile episode in your life.

But you're young, you'll catch up.
