A patch is obviously needed - There hasn't been anything this buggy in release since... uhh well - any Madden for the PC. But, um. You don't want to be compared with EA do you, Ubi? First time buyer (though I did play Wolfpack series back in the day - so not COMPLETELY a noob when it comes to subsims <but I am close >) because I heard you guys were the best.

Why would you want to alienate someone making the switch back to subsims? Justify my purchase, or refund my money. Or just take my money once, cause you'll never get it again.

::spoken as if Ubi would ever read this::

I can only echo the remarks in the above 14 pages. A patch to 1.3 is definitely needed by June and afterwards a 1.4 patch to finalize this potential masterpiece; SH4.

Don't let us down Dan.... I've stuck with you so far!

I still can't play SHIV due to many issues with my old PC but I WILL be playing once they are resolved. The patch is vitally necessary for the game to be considered complete. Then the Mod community can sink their teeth into this baby and we'll all be happy as clams sub simmin' to our heart's content. But.... the paaaatch......the paaaatch.....where is the paaaatch....?:hmm:

Ubisoft - listen closely to the outcry. We appreciate your desire to serve our desire for games of this nature, but we do expect the product to work as "advertised". Its not just the community that says another patch is needed - almost every review points out still existing bugs.

SH3 was supported well, and I gladly plunked down my money for SH4 because of that. Your hearing from a number of people just like me. We looked at your actions, your reputation, and your responsiveness to us the customer. You listened when we expressed our concerns about the one element in SH3 that stood out - and you fixed it in SH4. (Note - I am talking about starforce). You supported the game itself through v1.4 - solved the major bugs and had, for the genre - a blockbuster hit.

SH4 has the tools to succeed - many customers are waiting on that one review that says "BUY THIS - UBISOFT FIXED IT! ITS GREAT!" - but that wont happen until the glaring issues are taken care of. Every review raves about the graphics - but without correcting the major gameplay issues - you will see little additional sales.

In addition to the issues that Neal raised - one other item does need attention - and that is Damage Control. It may not need much work, but it does deserve an explanation as to what is happening so that we can react appropriately.

Continue to produce quality products with reasonable support cycles, and we as gamers will continue to buy, and brag about - your games. Fail us, and we will walk away.

Default 1.3

Twice as many bugs with half as many fixes as SH3? Not good for the reputation of a company. Please finish the "simulation".

Totally agreed. There are still way too many issues with Silent Hunter 4 for its development life to be stopped now. The issues Neal brought up in the original post are at the heart of what is still functionally wrong with the game.

It was with the greatest enthusiasm that I purchased and installed SH4 and I anxiously looked forward to the 1.2 patch (1.1 was out when I purchased). It's unfortunate that the 1.2 patch did not address all the issues that remained but I understand the necessity to get something out quickly to address a lot of the issues which were not resolved with 1.1. One or two patches should finish the job.

Signed.

Neal shoots and scores. I'd be ok with a final patch that fixes that list of bugs.

They're glaring, game killing items, and it's reasonable to request Ubi correct them to bring the software into line with what they marketed to us.

Yep,

Please add me to the list of people begging for complete and final closure with a game that functions as it was meant to.....and marketed!
