Yes... It is kinda strange:

SH4 = muscular crew and no people sending you off
SHIII = normal looking crew and huge crowd sending you off

I seem to remember one of the crew designer/artists was female.

SH3=normal looking? The look kind of sinister to me. Kind of stiff also.

Aside from the joke, SH4 crew look much better. I think the 3.0 shader with PPF does the trick for the better look.
