I never had any random CTDs with SHIV, those I had were usually for that or other known/reported reason :hmm

Don't press the 'A' key.

Sometimes the stadimeter will make you ctd. I save after leaving harbor (or starting outside it) and reload my game from there. It helped when my Stadi kept crashing me on a certain target.

If you have an LCD flat panel monitor, you must manually change the synchronization setting in a cfg file to 'on'. I'm not home right now, so if you do I'll give you details on where it is located...

I think it's My Documents/SH4/Cfg/main.cfg under [Graphics] section but I could be wrong

I've tried changing VSync to on. I've tried Neals suggestion of reinstalling but the CTD is still there. One example last night I was shadowing a mechant, trying to get a good postion. Viewing it through the TBT, bincoulars etc, etc. I get a bit closer, have another look though the binoculars and BAM! CTD!

I have a Radeon 1650 Pro using Cat 7.3 and I get random CTD's too, and sometimes an automatic reboot too. I save often.

ATI problems?

Have you completely wiped the ATI drivers and installed the newest one?

I kinda doubt this is the problem but had to mention it. *shrug*

I'm beginning to think there's a graphics option that doesn't work well with ATI cards. I could be wrong, so we should see how other ATI users are faring.

Anyone else out there with ATI vid cards having issues or running smoothly? Let us know.
