Anyway this new Russian boomer seems to be quieter than Ohio-class SSBN. Thus after decades long efforts Russians finally have SSBN undetectable by US Navy. Yes, at more than 5 km distance "Borey" becomes true hole in the water! What a pity now it is too little and too late. Cold War would be much more interesting!

Might I ask how you know this?
The only people who should know anything about that are the real bubbleheads here...and half of them are retired.

So anyone got any mroe info.
There is only the biew of the stern. Pretty obvious it has a pump jet but where does the TA come out if it has one? I know the top fin was covered but there was no tell tale of a TA outlet. |

I agree with Sky regarding Western nations helping Russia scrap her old fleet, while she builds a brand new sub class with the money that we are paying them. I've seen photos that show the TA fairing in the top rudder and maybe the port side aft plane.
As for the bragging of 5km silence... Do you realize that 2.66 nautical miles or 3.1 miles isn't that impressive since it is the newest SSBN class out? Shoot, diesels are quieter than that..yes I know different situation, but point made. |
