I can confirm this. Strange indeed. Maybe ATI's driver simply don't recognize the game as a 3D application and thus don't render all screen effects?

Great observation! Seems there is still some hope to us ATI users to get our eyes blinded by the sun!

Have reported the Bug again in the 1.1 BUG thread.

Yeah, I saw your post to that effect over on Rage3d.

As an interesting test to this point - who here is running software that can monitor the GPU and video memory clock speeds? (I think even Rivatuner can do it for ATI cards...but not too much else)

I'd be interested in the graph showing the clock speeds you are seeing.

Is the card, perhaps, in 3d mode when the glare is 'working', and the moment the glare has gone away, the card dropped back down to 2d mode?

Well, I can confirm the effect. Look at sun in periscope, no glare, jump to nav map, alt-tab out, alt-tab back, back to periscope...yup, glare. For about a full 2 seconds, then it fades out to nothing again.

Weird.

Unfortunately, can't test the 2d/3d clock question, as the Cat 7.3s have borked my ability to overclock.

Not read all post but my ATI 9800XT does not have glare either.

But as posted above, when I switch out of program trhen back, I had the glare for a few seconds then it faded away.

The same as Dreamer. Except I hit Shift+F11 to capture motion (similiar to ALT-TAB)

I'll try monitoring my clock speeds later today when I get home from work.

ATI X1900XT with 7.2 Catalyst drivers.
No glare...I havent yet tested the AltTab trick.

About the graphic cards...Whats your temp when you play SH4 ? It seems to raise very fast with mine, even with other 3D games that are graphic killers I do not reach these temps !! I can get 95°C (203°F)...!!!

DaWizeGuy - have you had a chance to check those clocks, yet? Seems our most promising avenue of investigation so far.

The clocks stay at 500/600 so Overdrive doesn't kick in. Then gain I didn't expect it to since SH3 exhibits the exact same behavior with sun glare working. But ATI and/or Ubisoft can hopefully use this information to fix the problems.
