and a few thousands round of ammo for all the guns, jammed into either pickle jars or loaded into boxes

I could ask the same of why women buy 2,000 pairs of shoes, or why a Ferarri is so desireable, or fashionable clothes and fads are all the rage. Why? Because we can.
