I reserved mine with a deposit thru my local GameStop back on the 5th when the release date was originally the 13th. I’ve done this with all games that I’ve wanted to buy on the release day. In the past, they usually get their shipments in about 4pm on the day of release so I’ve been able to pick it up on the way home for work.

While I haven’t asked what package content, I assume it the premium one because of the following that was posted on the official SH4 website:
Quote:
Wednesday 01/31/07 - When Silent Hunter: Wolves of the Pacific is released, every copy of the game will include premium bonus material for a limited time! We asked our community members what they wanted, and crammed every single little thing that we could into the packaging just for you guys! Wanna know what's in it? Check out the list below:
Premium Packaging
100+ page manual including reference material
Fold-out historical map of the Pacific theater
Fold out ship recognition poster
Quick Reference Card
1-hour of WWII-era documentary footage about U.S. submarines from Periscope Films on a Bonus DVD
You guys told us what you wanted, and we tried our very best to make sure you will be satisfied with your purchase!
It's only for a limited time, but every copy of the game released in US will contain all of those things.

I asked the salesman if he knew what version it would be and he checked the computer. It just says Silent Hunter IV Wolves of the Pacific. I have to agree though with you based on what you indicated above - I think most versions out or the first shippment out will be the premium package. A nice "hook" for the retailers and UBI really to get more interest in the game (as if there is not enough already ) and have the initial sales start out high. Been in retail for some 37 years and it's retail 101 in that regard.

Whatever - the bottom line is we want to play. If it comes with the "trimmings" all the better. But the meat of the issue is the game itself.

Happy Hunting

From what I understand, the whole first run for the US version is the premium pack with 100pg manual, etc.

I think if you pre-order it anywhere, it'll have the bonus materials. I think the 2nd run won't have that stuff.

I pre-ordered from EBGames back in January, then from Ubi in Feb to make sure that I would get all the extra stuff and then they came out with the super extra edition , so had to go to Ubi-UK to order one of them.
