Didn't realise I was sailing into a noob minefield with my original question. Point(s) taken, apologies for not reading the manual (again) first and then asking questions later.
I'd just like to say that I've been overwhelmingly impressed with the mod community surrounding SH3, especially in the development of The Grey Wolves, and my sincere thanks go out to everyone involved for making it happen. I shall now quietly disappear to my cabin and rtfm. ![]() |

Enabling the other mods are fine, but you won't want to enable the "Late War Sensors Snorkel Antennas" mod, until they are actually available in October 1944 (and offered to you on the Upgrades screen). If you are running a career before that date, you will not want it. |

tiger_tim_34 don't take it personally. The guys from the GWX Team have to answer hundreads of questions every day from the whole SubSim community. Obviously they don't mind answering questions, but the problem is that a lot of them have been asked and answered time and time again. Now as far as your question is concerned yes the optional mods do work with GWX 1.02. As a word of advice try to enable all the mods you want to use via JSGME. That way if you don't like them or if they cause problems to your game you can disable them without having to re-install SH3 and GWX. On your other point of how to use JSGME and rar files I feel you are a little bit unfair, as these programs are created for the cusual user and don't require too much knowledge or even understanding of the software. I feel that you need to spend some time reading the manual and the readme files and you will see how easy it is to follow the instructions. In any case I'm attaching you two tutorials on how JSGME works. They're simple and easy to use and give you all the info you need http://forums.totalwar.org/vb/showthread.php?p=1009484 & http://forums.ubi.com/eve/forums/a/t...2/m/3461029123.
Again if the words of the fellow GWX Beta Testers and Devs were a bit harsh I do appologise for them, and I hope you do understand that they have to deal with hundreads of questions every day. As I said before most of them would have been answered themselves if people did read the manual and follow the instructions. In any case it doesn't really matter. We're a friendly community and we help each other, so feel free to ask any questions you like. Just promise me you will try to read the manual first and you will check the forum to see if there is a prior answer to your question ![]() Enjoy the game mate ![]()

Yes, Some of us are growing a Huge headache,
we are reading the same questions by different post too many times. And if I page down the Manual...well its adressed there so no need for me to explain it...let him read the manual....because really the ones that worked on the manual where Hoping that people would actually read it so it saves the GWX dev team time and effort to explain things. but now I see some members on a 24/7 shift of copying things from the manual towards the players that downloaded it. and its getting worse per day. we have asked many times to Browse the manual before you post something that has been adressed in the manual.. its double work. and its a getting a real pain in the neck so yes, we are a getting rude now. SHIV marketing and PR is generating intrest in the game. Like most any game, people look for fansites to cultivate that interest. The search for such fan sites will eventually lead them to subsim. Then, "Hey, theres a SH3? Maybe i should check that out? Looks cool." and It's probably in the bargain bin by now. As a game or community gets more interest, so is porportions of differing people. Take the MMO WoW for example.. HUGE audience, and as a result, the number of "RTFM"ish posts will also be higher. So as the audience here grows (assuming it is), so will the amount of "RTMF"ish posts grow. As subsim gains more user numbers (again, assuming they are or will be), the less of a small community and clubbish atmosphere it will retain. |

FYI figures for the period Jul 2006 to Feb 2007 show that Subsim is growing at roughly 128 "active" members per month. Oct and Nov were slow months - only just over 100 new members each month, with Sep and Aug being the high months, with over 150 and 140 new members respectively.
Of course, these figures are overall Subsim figures, so included will be members that never post in the SH3 forums. From reading some of the posts over that time, it seems the influx is attributable to five things (in no particular order): - the budget bin release of SH3 which occurred late last year - the imminent release of SH4 - the troubles over at Ubizoo which occurred middish last year (saw a number of Ubi members migrate here) - the release of GWX (membership went from 103 in November to 131 in December and has been over 130 a month since) - the general helpful nature and "community" feel Subsim has. A lot of these new members would have been long time stowaways. Interestingly, some people have been quick to berate some of the guys who have responded to the OP's question. Ironically, the guys asking these types of questions are the same guys that are physically de-selecting the "View the manual" option that is selected BY DEFAULT when you install either GWX or GWX 1.02. Personally I think laziness is a poorer virtue than frustration. Indeed, remove the laziness and you have removed the frustration. Unfortunately though, as Ducimus said, increased numbers = increased diversity (good and bad). To that end I think we'll be posting RTFM and STFF for quite a while yet. ![]() Anyway, to those quick to criticise, let me leave you all with this poignant "Mr Burns" quote: "I'll try being nicer if you'll try being smarter" It does remind you that there are two views to every argument. On a positive note, at least the OP got GWX 1.02 installed. Last edited by JScones; 02-26-07 at 11:58 PM. |

I will answer noobs questions all day long, I don't and didn't forget where and how I was at "36 posts". Yes I understand the same bloody question/s keep re-appearing, and the noobs don't read the manuals, & how come my eels don't re-load, how come my crew don't fix the damage, how come, how come, how come.
We don't want this forum to turn into a "Monkey Tree"; what I mean by that is the the noob monkeys are sitting in the lowest part of the tree, and the senior experenced monkeys are at the top of the tree (with the good view). When the experenced monkeys look down all they see are smiling monkeys, but when the noob monkeys look up all they see are ass-holes. ![]() |
