Hmm. I've always been given to thinking that 'home by Xmas' was a euphemism for we've let this lot get off the hook and we'll be here forever thank you so much human rights lawyers.

It's more a political popularity move done time and time again, it's now an overused cliche. "Back in time for christmas" plays on the hearts of the people back home and creates warm ans fuzzy feelings.

I do not believe a word what Tony Blair has said over the years he has screwed the people of the UK and on the world stage he comes across as a real darling, yuck.
