This was not a wolfpack. The convoy had just left a port in England 6 hours before I intercepted the first time.
I am using seasonal waves in SH-3 Commander. Does this make my wintertime waves bigger then stock SH-3 waves? I wonder if it has unintended effects on the ships? The smaller ones cant handle it? |

I should imagine its the SH3 issue of ships riding low in the water when you meet them again
The cargo zones are then in the water so to speak so act like damaged On fire There are only a few ships with the zones affected in such a way It may be the effect of the higher waves also Not sure on that |

The only thing I am not sure of is whether such a spawning probability works randomly every time if the player intercepts the same convoy a few times during the same mission or it is used/calculated by the game only once in the beginning of the mission (because I have not tested that). The best way to find out is to note the date and the convoy name and look up its composition in the RND layer of the campaign, whether the subs are scripted in the convoy. |

Well I am fairly sure it isnt the wolfpacks as only the three tramp steamers were on fire. I doubt the subs would only fire on the three tramps. None sunk either.

I do not know how many subs were scripted by the NYGM team in the convoy, but I would guess one or at most two. And the wolfpack subs do not fire or do not use virtual torpedoes in NYGM. However, escorts and other convoy ships fire at the sub periscopes and may damage each other in the mess. Merchants attempt to run over the subs and escorts try to DC them. Usually the subs get sunk or left behind the convoy (maybe with still attacking escorts) before the player gets in the attack position. But that all together produces a great immersion effect.

Well, this is ancient thread now but I haven't found another on that topic and I'm in similar situation.
First days of war, lone tramp steamer (no convoy), sea rough (wind speed 10 m/s), playing NYGM. When spotted, steamer had small fire on bow. After some chase it seemed to develop another small fire, this time on stern (not sure 100% if it's stern because of increased distance and worsening weather, but surely there are two small fires on this single steamer now). So explanation of bigboywooly sounds good to me. The same type of ship, no convoy this time. BTW it's very helpful - I don't see silhoutte of ship now but fires are visible very well from far away ;-)
