All my moments stem from my absolute ineptitude. Being a new skipper, as soon as i catch wind of any destroyer i send my sub hurtling down to the depths. This tactic may sound fine, and it would be...but for the fact that in my panic, I always forget to take a depth sounding. On my last voyage i hammered the sub into the sea floor no leass than four times and no slower than 5 knotts! Half my crew were injured. the other half were working like almighty to patch up the sub and sort the flooding out.
Luckily i have not yet lost the sub and am on my third voyage, but I swear that in the 3-d views within the sub, the survivng crew all regularly turn to face me and scowl. I fear mutiny is a-foot mr Christian..Mutiny... ![]() |

Most frustrating, non-Bernard inducded moment would be the time I was able to sneak past the destroyer screen of a convoy with three fat and juicy T3's and 2 Liners. In spite of the horrible conditions (15 m/s wind, rain, slight fog and twilight) i was able to get myself into perfect condition. I lined up my shot for my electrics to hit around the engine compartment of two of the T3s and two torpedoes for one of the liners, after wating a few moments I fired my torpedoes.
I watched with great anicpation as each of the torpedoes move closer and closer to their target, and with just over 10 seconds to go on each of the torpedoes I watched with great exasperation as all four of them prematurely detonated. Aghast with my bad luck I ordered a quick dive to 140 metres and slowly inched away from the convoy. It was at around that point I realised that I forgot to set the torpedos to impact pistol. I seriously kicked myself in the ass for that one.... |

Welcome to subsim Anthony.
Yep, I've had a lot of goofs as well, but for the life of me I can't (don't) remember them ![]() Rob |

middle of Convoy..Battleship and a small destroyer on either side of me..palms sweating...all measurements and settings checked and rechecked...900m away..700m..500.."LOS!", swing periscope around "LOS!", and fire a salvo of 4 torps at the destroyer and 1 measly eel at the battleship (all at gyro settings of 180 degrees to boot)
![]() ![]() I blame a strong sudden current for having swung my sub around end-to-end without the crew having realized..

Thankyou for the welcome, excellent sim, helpful and intelligent community, needless to say my new wife is becoming a little peeved at the amount of my time it swallows...
