Well if your computer was able to handle 688i, then it should be able to handle Sub Command and Dangerous Waters (sameish graphics engine)
Those few games, in my opinion, are for the hardcore simmer, where instrument accuracy is king. You really should give Silent Hunter 3 a go, if your computer can handle it, with the GWX mod, which you can find links to around SubSim Welcome to the best simming community on the web!
