I just started my 1x patrol. Been doing it on my day offs. Only 55 hours to go before I make it most of the way to my assigned patrol area. It's taken me about a week and a half of sporatic playing to get about 6-7 hours north of Wilhelmshaven and the trip has been very non-eventful and I plan for it to be so till I get within range of Great Britain. Also luckily, Bernard hasn't mystically appeared on my boat yet either (but I strangely sense his presence).
I'll run the thing all the time while I'm home with the speakers loud enough for me to hear my crew calling out contacts. When there's nothing and the sailing is smooth, I'm doing other things to occupy my time. I'll only visit the computer for shift changes for my crew every so often.

At the rate I'm going.. It should be a couple months till I get to my patrol area.

If I slept in the same room as the computer, I'd run the thing all night too so my crew could wake me up with "SHIP SPOTTED ! LONG RANGE" or worse yet "AIRCRAFT SPOTTED !!!".

I'd move the computer into my bedroom for that.. but my Kaleun (the wife) would kill me.

Did you start in 1939 and plan to go all the way to '45? It'll be 2012 by the time you finish.

I wonder how many among the "SH3 1Xers" (if I can say it this way) are either Highlanders or sentenced to life in a swiss jail... :hmm:

I started in 1939 but with my playing ability and the fact that Bernard seems to stow away on every mission I go on will probably insure that I don't last long beyond 1939. :rotfl:

I'm involved in a WaW patrol right now but when I finish it I'll go back to my 1x patrol.
