I'm using Paint Pro 7, what about you :hmm:
Photoshop 7 here! This is how i do it:
Just find a nice color on google pictures (search for "grey" or any other color), and open the pic. Then right click and "copy picture". Then in PS: mark an area, no matter where, and "paste" the pic into it. The pic of the color will be on top of everything, but dont worry! Use the polygonal lasso tool to draw a triangle or a quadrat in the colored area, anything you like. Press Ctrl+C to copy the selection. Mark another area outside the colored one, and paste the selection into that. Place it over the uboat texture where you want it to be, then double click on the layer in the layer window to select blend modes etc. I used the "overlay" blend mode on the camo scheme for this paint. Hope this was helpful, im not good in explaning in such technical terms... If Anvart, fubar, danlisa or some other excellent skinner can explain this in an easier way, please do so..!
There's no need to search Google for colours, PS & PSP have all the colours under the sun. However if your happy with this way then continue but this is what I do.

Just like _Seth_ said, Use a selection tool to mark out an area on your U-Boat texture, then goto Edit > Fill > Fill with Colour. A popup box with all the possible colours will appear, just drag the selector around until you have the colour you want and click OK.

Now every time you choose fill the same colour will be applied to your selection.

If you want to change the colour then go through the same proceedure and choose another colour.

Then just continue with the blend options.

Oh and Seth. Out mighty GWX Lawyer-Team will contact you because of the use of our(!) "It´s done when it´s done!" :p

I dunno, "It's done when it's done!" sounds suspciously like, "When it's done" which I beleive is a trademark Logo of 3DRealms. :rotfl:

To get the angles you will need to use a Selection Tool which allows you place points on your image and then finish the selection by returning to your first point. I think you use PSP and I'm not familiar with that programs way of selection. But in Photoshop the tool is called Polygonal Lasso.

Seth, is there a possibility, that you add Fubar-style rivets to this great looking skin?
They have a unique 3D-look.

@ danlisa: Thanx mentor, for clearing up! I consider myself a newbie at skinning, so all help is appreciated!!!

@Paajtor: Will look into that, mate! I dont want to upset fubar if the rivets is his trademark..

Suppose Fubar wants to share his knowledge....maybe he has a (photoshop-) layer for you, containing the rivets for this Uboat-type.

Hmmm..that would be cool....:hmm:

Here are some more pics:

A little "life" beneath the sea...

The view of a well used Deck Gun. Notice that the seagulls have used this as a "resting" place...

Starts to look like the sluggish, well used metal box this boat was known to be..
