no mission REQUIRES you to go through the channel. some people see the channel as a shortcut, most people see it as death.

Normally you should receive a msg from BdU sometimes in 39 - Sept or Oct - telling you the English Channel is considered closed for all U boats and that it is ordered to all to use the North Sea to get into the Atlantic.
Since this is orders from the boss: just follow it...

Yep and there was a reason Bdu sent that message
Mines\shallow water and constant patrols by ASW warships

If you absolutely must go thru the Channel, use the "." key to shadow you sub. But you must have the outside camera turned on in "Realism" settings. That way you can see ahead of you and avoid mines and subnets. Not as real as true life, but it works to get you where you want to go.

But as said... "Stay out of the Channel". You're only asking for trouble in there, not only from mines but from the Enemy's warships too. Any sub commander east of the Channel will go north thru the North Sea to go around to get into the Atlantic, if they absolutely must.

Besides, it's not a "mine" bug.

I don't use the channel even it is a short cut. I go north around England. I get a singleton ever now and then when going that way. The channel is just not worth the fuel savings. I find a milchcow if I need too.

Default Kaboom!!!

The Allies only have to patrol 20 miles of water at the narrowest point of the Channel; actually even less since some of it is mined. In RL, staying near the French coast would get you blown up.
