First GWX patrol in the books and a question

First, it was clear weather as posted in my original post.

Second U-boats do not spend their entire patrol submerged. these are not nuclear class submarines that submerge 5 minutes after leaving port and reemerge at the end of the patrol.

Back to the issue however, is there anyway to get TC to kick back to 1X quicker or is it a matter of rookie watchmen? It was my first patrol in Sep. 1939 so they are green.
