Tell her to be thankful you're having an affair with your PC instead of having an affair with an actual woman.

I tell my girlfriend that I'm studying for my calculus exams and refreshing my geometry and trigonometry skills (even though technically the calculus really doesn't apply...).

As for my mother, I tell her that 1) At least it's keeping me from making her a grandma ten years early and 2) that it's better than me hanging out with ex-friends who I used to hang out (they smoke, do drugs, drink booze, snatch purses, etc).

That's what a friend of mine said when his wife complained about their kids taking up tabletop miniatures wargaming: "At least it's keeping them off the streets".

Gee, before computers I did spend a lot of time playing tabletop wargaming, mainly 1/285th WWII with Command Decision rules or a Naval game called Amirauté IIRC... There was the fun of having all players in the same room with coke and chips for the weekend, which you can today only have by organizing LAN parties...
PS : forgot Squad Leader...

Flowers, nice jewelry, not for frogiveness, but as actual gifts. Out of the blue with no reason (they love it, the attention). Take her dinner when you've successfully completed a patrol so you can celebrate, or something of that nature.

And when you're at dinner, refuse all autographs (read: don't ask for them) for sinking that destroyer with a head-on shot.
