Default Deck Gun Power

Ahoy shipmates, is it possible to sink medium and large merchants with the deck gun when all out of eels?

I am currently hunting a convoy which i have sunk all its escorts and 2 large cargo vessels there is about 11 ships remaining and all i have left is my deck gun?

It depends on the version you're using. If you use he stock version you can sink a few ships just with the deck gun. If you're using GW/NYGM then it's a bit more difficult, as ships are tougher and can get more damage. In order to sink them you need to fire below the water-line.

Yeah, shoot below the water line.

Yes, I agree what you have said

Desk gun is designed for small ships, or ships damaged by torpedoes which does not worth a fish

If you want to use desk gun for big cargoes (C2/C3/T2/T3/troop transport/passenger linear), I usually strike it w. 1 fish (preferably explodes under draft) and surface and use desk gun to wipe the remaining HP out). In later war period, I will not use desk gun since all merchant ships are armed with guns
(except tug boat, fishing boat, etc.)

Then, when you run out of shells, you can start throwing stale "LuftWaffles" (tm). They'll do about the same amount of damage.

I reckon a Desk gun would only be for small ships and people. I could do with one here at work!

I only use my deck gun on dwarfs. Does that make me a bad person?
