As far as I know, in real life if a U-Boat skipper got a radar warning he would immediately dive, in case it was an approaching aircraft. Given the range of WWII radar, I suspect that most often if the radar emission was from a ship the U-Boat would probably be close enough to hear her with hydrophones if the ship was close enough to pick up the U-Boat on radar...
Does anybody have any actual stats on this stuff? Plus, does anybody know if real-life U-Boat radar detectors gave a bearing? |
