Today the video games have become an industry with lots of money at stake and lot of competition. There is a lot of pressure on the dev teams from the editors regarding release datesand with internet it became easy to address issues later wih patches. Some seem also to rely on the communities of players to "finish the job" by providing open architectures. This is why I don't buy games anymore on release date... Others like 1C (IL2 series) choose to incorporate in their releases the jobs of independant modders on an open cooperation basis. Another good example in the flight sims is Falcon 4. It was bugged to a point it was almost unplayable when it came out and in a couple of year's work from the community has become a reference. Other problem today is that simulation games are expensive to produce and have a limited customer's potential compared to FPS or RTS games. On the other side, just by reading the threads here or at Sim HQ, you must admit that we the simmers are a very difficult bunch of crazy nuts to cope with...
