Yep. The limitations of single player are obvious, even with the improved AI of SCXIIc and LW/Ami. Nothing compares to facing a human opponent, and dealing with the occassional cheater is a small price to pay for the majority of quality matches. Even within the structure of a virtual fleet, you can always find the people you trust and can play with without worry (he said with some irony [but not enough for the point to be lost]).

That said, I don't think virtual fleets are for everyone for various reasons, but it is a great way to find opponents and multiplayer really is the way to play a combat simulation.

Default Balderdash Sonbar732

God I have always wanted to use "Balderdash". Joe we have been friends since Moby Dick was a Minnow, so don't feel bad about any thing.
To all of you I will give a Virtual Navy a shot, I have never played on line, so I don't know anything about it. Sonar and i was going to play way back but my connection was slow, about snail speed. I have Satellite now so I assume it would be fast enough.
If the fix comes out "the battle pack" that should address the flashing I would love to play 688i or SC on line, I still don't consider my self good enough at DW, well fair on subs, but FFG, and the planes, I suck.

Thanks all of you, now this is the kind of stuff I like to read and respond to on this site.

Sub Sailor:

There are a lot of good virtual Navy's out there, and I agree with Swims that picking one that doesnt restrict your play with others is the best bet. I myself am not very good at all with DW, as I am a 688 player, and after 8 years playing it its hard to move to a new one like DW.
The GNSF have a few "old timers" like myself that are hooked on 688, as do some of the other groups. That along with all the people that come here finding someone to play 688 with shouldnt be that much of a problem.

Anyway, check out some of the virtual navy's that are out there, ask them about themselves and their policies, speak with some of the people here who may be members of these groups. Im sure you will find a group (or groups) that may be right for you.
