Sub Sailor

I used to only ever play single player games for that very reason a long time ago, and figured it was far too great a hastle to deal with possible cheating and other issues that come up when people get together online. I got hooked on Jane's 688(i) and played it a lot. I went on the web one day looking to see if there were any other missions out there, as the thought of playing a mission I made myself seemed pointless, and found a virtual group, the Seawolves.
I was asked to join and against my feelings at the time figured I would try it, I mean I could simple quit if it wasnt for me. That was about 9 years ago and for all my time in Seawolves I had a great time. I am now having even more fun in a new group GNSF (Global Naval Strike Force).
Yes, in my time with virtual groups I have seen cheating, "buddy buddy clicks", and other unpleasantries, but weighed against all the was gained it was a microscopic percent.
Any time you gather more than one person, conflicts will happen, as its human nature, but the benifits that can be gained playing with others can far outwiegh any problems that pop up. So, now, even with the occasional headache, I still get great joy from the interaction with others that enjoy the same sims as me.

While this is not for everyone, I have found that the vast majority of players belonging to virtual groups, and the ones that just play with others and not members of a group are great people. Yes, a bad apple will always come along at times, but that is no difference than "real life", but for the most part its simple good people that you can play with, learn from, and have a blast. As I am sure you can probably see this just by visiting this forum and seeing how all the people here interact, they are all good people having fun with games they enjoy.

Default Thank you Stern

Stern, I believe the Virtual Naval Groups are basically very good and I believe they contribute to the community. But lately, it seems like we go through spells where most of the posting is about some one doing something, after a while you think "GOD" will this never end.
Maybe I will give a Virtual Navy a try.

Again thank you,

I would recommend it Ron. Like Stern said if it's not your cup of tea you can always leave. I too have gone through being a single player and the ups and downs of belonging to virtual groups. I can say unequivocally that belonging to a virtual group is FAR more fun than doing the single player thing. I'm also in an age category (not to far behind you) that leaves little time for petty BS and I act/respond accordingly when it happens. There are a lot of us out here who belong to virtual Navies that work very hard to insure that things like we've witnessed recently don't happen. But nothing is absolute and unfortunately some things slip through the cracks. Don't let the 1%'s keep you from a new and enjoyable experience!
