While you're at it why don't you fix the control rooms as well, since so many things there are placed wrongly?

i tested my first new interior this morning, i went small and started with the galley first, everything worked, (well except that to get there you have to use shift+f2 and fly through the controllroom wall!)

still having major problems with pack3d, some versions wont open any dats at all, im using a really old version that`ll open most dats but doesnt give the option to edit positions etc like later versions so thats kinda annoying.

textures will be sloooow in coming as im going to have to bake all lighting & shadows for each object into its base texture. no lightmaps here, youll just have to make do with white lights only.

+ive been thinking as there will be no interactive elements in these interiors i may have to assign some keys so you can easilly move to them, maybe remap the numpad......anyhoo i`ll keep at it.

OMG OMG

I don't care how I get there. Just the thought of having extra compartments is making me cream my pants:rotfl:

Sir you are a genius

Oh man! Flakmonkey, if you manage to pull this one off, please make an engine room then! I've always missed that in any naval sim, the engineer part is always missing

Well a too detailed engine room could be difficult and probably charge a lot the game engine, and more with moving components..

A medium detail is enough to have the sensation of a real boat size. the dev team makes the pressure hull too small.

i don´t remember well what game was , perhaps medal of honor, that in a mission there are a u-boat in a sub pen and you can visit a lot of compartments.

@Hartmann:

I see no need for a superdetailed engine room as such, moving engine parts such as valves and so on is too much to ask in my opinion and would probably be an impossible task due to the limitations of the game, right? I only mean an engine room with a view like in the command room and with engine controls, since this is probably all that the game will allow.

In general I only mean that the engineer part of sailing is something that is overlooked in all sims. Destroyer command was the only sim where they tried to approach it, even though it was a mediocore one, at least they tried . The engineer's role is important, that's why I have never understood the fact that you can man everything from flakguns and almost to the pots and pans in the galley, but the engineer part is always overlooked, as if it doesn't exist.

sorry for my confusing English

Hartmann, that was MOH where you had to get into the sub to set the charges and then escape before she blew up. You could go to the stern tubes to take out the guard with his back to you and then fight your way up front set charges and fight you way out. Can't remember how far up front tho but the interior looked pretty good, as did the exterior.
