Help! Grey Wolves crashes when trying to load up!

Problem solved!

I had forgotten to install DirectX, I had mistakenly thought it was installed along with my NVIDIA drivers

It's nice to get help, but it's a lot more satisfying figuring it out on your own, isn't it?

You don't know how right you are, I had spent a few hours installing reinstalling SH3 until I was blue in the face. It wasn't until I was at work earlier on when I rather abstractly thought "What about DirectX?" I pretty much dismissed it hence the post here, but the thought came back and I thought "What the hell!!..it has to be worth a shot"...and it worked!!!
