I'm just guessing, but I assume this refers to quitting and reloading if you miss. Keeps the score high.

I usually save once every game day. I keep a written log and imagine I'm making a report at the same time each day. I also save right after I hit a target, because from time to time my game crashes when a ship sinks (sound issues).

I save whenever I want.... ususally just before something grand is about to happpen..... like nailing that big fat juicy convoy that just appeared out of the fog. LOL Or supper, or whenever the Warden calls.

I do the written log too. Helps keep track of the good Grids to catch the enemy in.

If you do not try and install a mod during a patrol you shouldn't have problems saving anytime you want during a patrol, unless you have sound issues or some other problem not related to SHIII.

Only install mods while "In Base". Installing mods during a patrol will cause you to lose your campaign, unless you have it all backed up and safe.

I save once I'm out of harbor in order to run SH3Gen. Then I'll save again if it's getting really late and I need to sleep. Twice I've saved right before a big expected battle, but once I realized that reloading that would erase any progress I'd done AFTER that I usually just forget about the saves and go on with whatever results I'd had.

Haven't even considered reloading due to a missed torp, only restarted due to time compression deaths since well, that's lame.

I sail a Type IX so I do some very long patrols. I save about once per hour of gameplay time.

Saving? Now there's a novel idea.

Can't bring myself to do it though, because it means I deprive myself of about 30 seconds of action.
