i am sure that this was a valuable lesson from which you will learn and not repeat.

Another comment about the allied merchant ships popping up in strange places with no escort. I have seen them a few more times on different missions in the Southwest area. They almost always come up in bad weather of fog or driving rain with poor visibility. The kind of visibility where you have to get within 1000 yards or the flag is just a blank gray piece of cloth. Also the TDC refuses to lock on until very close as well.

Since I am now more cautious about this situation, I keep getting closer until I can see the flag. Resulting once in a near collision. Usually an American flag but twice I have seen what I think is an Australian flag.
