Yes in the SH3 GWX onealex edition you can ask for additional grid to search after patrolling your initial grid. It's part of the .hsie realism features included in the mod.

The additional patrol area option was actually a Stiebler mod, fwiw. The entire second "page" of mod options in the selector are his.
