More from James Bond's "dad".

Fleming's take on Japan from his "Thrilling Cities" make interesting reading, given his wartime career.

"G'day, I'm James Bond......."......

I don't agree with a lot of what the reviewer says in this clip.

Poor Lazenby, he wasn't Sean Connery and in a lot of people's eyes that was a bad thing. He was a newcomer ( no huge acting cred behind him ) and his co stars and crew gave him a hard time because of it. He was playing the lead role against some big names and they resented it. Diana Rigg gave him a really hard time.

Miscasting.....Not Lazenby, he was bloody good as James Bond and if he'd stayed on in the franchise he would've really grown into the role and become iconic like "the other guy". My opinion only now but I feel Diana Rigg and Kojak stand out like sore thumbs and overshadow Lazenby. Lesser known actors would've been better choices.

And the ending is really powerful....

Ok, I'll admit I'm being very naughty by posting pre 1962 James Bond stuff. But this is where it all began..."Casino Royale"...A story by Ian Fleming that led to 3 movies ( this one included ). Not a lot of action....

I prefer the 2nd one actually...lots of cameos and the critics hate it.....screw 'em.

Woody Allen made a great super villain.

I always liked the theme music for this film.

I didn't know anything about this rendition of "Casino Royale" (I only think "David Niven") but here is an American playing James Bond and referring (as they often do) to "Your british pounds" - whaah?

https://www.mi6-hq.com/sections/movies/cr_1954

Some nice background stuff.

I've seen a couple of quiz shows where "what was the first James Bond film?" was asked, and the smartypants contestant correctly says "Casino Royale" and argues with the quizmaster after being told he was wrong. "The correct answer is Dr No in 1962".

The 1954 telemovie is apparently missing a lot of footage, and was only recently rediscovered after having been considered lost.
