Has anyone else used this with u-war ace campaign? it shows the locations of the german a.i subs (named U-80,etc) which iv'e been able to find when i search said grid--also on some of the "received enemy convoy contact reports" via the radio-i ckecked the sh3gen map and found my fellow A.I. subs sitting in the grid where the convoy report was placed on the map (pretty neat even if it is coincidence)

But, i have not been able to find the scripted battle units (i.e. bismark,hipper,so on) on the gen map during the month the operation is set for. maybe i am not generating it at the right time, any one else been able to see them on the map??
One thing I found out during initial testing is that campaign mods ususally
concentrate on only some of the unit classes and also, only some geographic areas.

Sh3Gen is designed to check for all known unit classes, and that includes U-Boats (class 200), and all modelled geographic zones (see my too map at the beginning of the thread) - thats why some features/surprises will only show up with different campaigns.

Right now, the U-Boat number will merely be a random number, which is somewhat connected to the year (higher numbers later in the war), and of course the number will never show up twice. It's not what I want ultimately, but it works.

I had recently been in contact with malcymalc who considered supporting me by creating a basic U-Boat database, but I looks he doesn't have enough time, which I asbilutely undersrand. Maybe I should request JScones to allow me to use his U-Boat files for SH3Cmdr, which are pretty good.

Now if only something would happen to make me play SHIII again, and I would be making plans for new features already. So far, I am waiting for a mod that includes german U-Boats, a working damage mod and the additional merchants.

Are you able to check if there is anything special about the way they are modelled? For instance, is it possible they are included in the LND layer or something? I have already seen a lot of strange things with campaign mods (and I'd hope people would be more strict to the standards sometimes .. ). Otherwise, if they should show up, they should show up - I have complete trust in my parsers, as long as the data has the same structure as vanilla.

With SH3Gen and UWAC I had a very "Das Boot" moment these days, not related to convoys, but I still most enjoyed it. I was in the North Sea, en route to an AM mission grid, and I though to check the site of a u-boot displayed on the map by SH3Gen. It was not there, but later, after I resumed the course toward the patrol grid, I met it close enough to presume it was the one I was searching. When the WO first reported "Schiff gesichtet", I went to the bridge and the weather was rough, with heavy seas and waves set to seasonal via SH3 Commander - they were really high, with fog and heavy clouds. Then I saw the other sub, at medium range. Both subs (mine and the other) were popping up on waves, like in the movie.
I felt an urge to shout THOMSEN, IT'S THOMSEN.
Very Das Boot, indeed. The only - minor - setback: it was a type VIIC/41. And the year was 1939, just the second patrol in the campaign.

Interesting.

Does GW1.1 have U-Boats too, or is this a UWAC special? I've lost a bit track of developments, you know.

This is an interesting field, because if there are enough boats in realistic locations an addon could theoretically generate real radio traffic from it.

I am wondering if this could also lead to wolfpack information in Gen's intelligence report ..

As far as I know UWAC is the only mod with active AI boats at sea
I am using GW with some of Sergs AI boats and it has marked them on the map for me - only the Axis ones tho not the British

Perhaps you should have a word with the GW dev team as they are working on the next version and none of us are sure whats in there lol

I didn't know there was a mod with British subs! And because frankly I didn't expect it, Sh3Gen does not look for subs any other than German. This can be done though. At the moment there isnt a mod with allied subs but they are available for addon
Sergbuto has done ;
S class for British\US
He is working on Upholder now and also is WIP on the US Gato class

Whether they will be included in a major mod is anyones guess tho its been added to the new GW want list

Will have a look for Brit sub names and forward to you GE

I had re-read this thread and checked the gen nav map again. i guess the named ships (bismark,etc.) were included in the listed scipted german convoys and taskforce that were shown in the gen map and which i was able to come across at sea (i overlooked the significance of the +,-,?, notations). also some of the scripted units were still in port at the time of the map generation (I also forgot about the german port suppression )

With GW +Uwac add on-i have numerous german subs showing up on my gen map. I got to see a radio "convoy contact report" appear in the same grid that one of the a.i. u-boats was in.

I hope so--i believe the shIII community would hate to see the loss of your talent and creativity that you showed with this program.

Just downloaded sh3 gen, it works well with sh3 comander and GW.
this game just gets better by the day.

Yes, would you please do that? You would help me a lot with the names, because I have no time for research right now. A list with some names for H-class (?) and the U-Class would be great, though the list doesn't have to be complete. Date of commission / destruction would be fine, but only if you have it.

great mod

I downloaded and installed it last night, loaded up like a charm (in a GW moded game) and is fun. I like it alot.
