This is the one I have been looking for its done by PBS Nova its called Suicide mission into Chernobyl.

In this documentary you get to see inside the sarcophagus and the scientists who climb all over reactor 4 and its lid.

The documentary was done in 1991 it is one hour long

I can recommend William Shakespeare's writings on this issue

Thank you Kapitan for the concise and informative and in depth answer to my questions in post #6. With radioactive half-lifes, I don't expect things to improve regarding radioactive contamination in my lifetime.

As usual, well written.

By the way, should you start to develop a green hue about you like the dial on your watch at night, consult a physician immediately.

Well, green is a nice, happy kind of color. Besides, if you glow in the dark, you can read at night without any external lighting.

I'm very glad to hear that. I think you should stay away from destroyed reactors and visit more naval ships and submarines and the like. Take pictures as well. Many, many pictures.
