I have had similar challenges. Three pieces of advice I can offer:

1) Minimize ambient room lighting with curtains etc. Or play only during night.
2) Modify gamma.
3) Download a periscope filter mod.

As mentioned realistically speaking on some engagements it was too dark even to engage. Especially if you use an attack periscope instead of closing on the surface with UZO/bino/bare eyes.

Hey Friend, cool. Yeah (1) works but still I feel it's hurting my eye.

2. Modify Gamma - Which CFG file I need to edit? does the tutorial available in this forum?

3. Download a periscope filter mod. - Are you talking about green crosshair in the periscope?

Thanks.

2) Check the game video settings. If gamma is not there, check graphics card settings.

3) Check here https://www.subsim.com/radioroom//showthread.php?t=164812

Also on this forum is a mod for brighter nights https://www.subsim.com/radioroom/sho...d.php?t=180174

Nights in TWOS are really dark. And moonless nights so much so that I often have to hide my hud (shift+z, I think) in order to see. And playing in a dark room is a must for me.

But if under such conditions you still don't see then you may try to customise night filter on your periscope which helped me see better in pitch black nights.

Here is a link to a post on this forum where it is explained how to do it.

Hi captain21!

I hope you got it sorted out with the night vision filter but just in case:

I noticed in TWOS-JSGME there is an optional mod called 'Brighter Nights' which I personally don't use but it might further help with the issue.

Good luck!
