They forgot to include a file (atiicdxx.ini) in the latest release of the driver, but fixed that immediately. You´ve downloaded it from a site that still offers the old archive.

Here you can find the fixed archive:

I have had the latest Catalyst and the latest Omega. Both take long to start when starting the centre, both hinder the booting (and shutting down) process of the system.
You are still using the Catalyst Control Center? I said you need to remove it before you uninstall the original driver and before you install the Catalyst driver. The Cat driver doesn´t even support the Control Center IIRC. That would also explain why hotkeys and Gamma settings don´t work properly on your system.

The CCC requires .NET. When you start the CCC it takes a long time to load because it has to load .NET. Just don´t use it, the "ATI Tray Tool" that comes with the Omega driver is a thousand times better than the standard ATI panel. It supports everything the CCC does, plus a lot more.

When you´ve installed the Omega driver start the ATT (icon is on your desktop), after that it´s visible in your taskbar. Right-click the taskbar icon, go to Tools & Options -> General Options and select "Load with Windows". After you´ve changed the gamma settings (Video & Colors) don´t forget to save the profile and also click "Load selected profile at startup".

I had deinstalled the ATI control panel when deinstalling the Catalyst.Seems it got reinstalled again. Seems that downloaded Omega maybe was worse than just having a missing file. Maybe during the episode when I had to enter the CD for that missing file.

I deinstall all and everything again, ATI, Cata, Ome, and try again.

"Having something that is missing...?" Hm...

I deinstalled all omega software. Next I used driver cleaner. I then deleted the folders which got not deleted. I used registry cleaner, then checked the registry manually" for "radeon", "ati", "catalyst", "omega". I defragged, and rebooted after having downloaded the new (and complete omega package). ATI control centre was deinstalled for sure.

Installation took time. The missinfg file-message is no more, however, a device named ATI T200 unified AVStream driver does not get found, error code 10, device not working. Haven'T notcied anything on it, don't know what it is.Yellow exclamation mark in hardware manager. Google says plenty of people are suffering this symptom.

A new ATI control centre got installed, too, I checked the date in the property box, it was installed during the omega installation process. I did not touch it.

I changed screen resolution, settings and gamma, saved all that as my profile. I ticked the "enable hotkeys" box. I set up hotkeys for increasing/decreasing gamma, and loading my profile on the fly.

Hotkeys do not work.

rebooted. Monitor loads desktop with dark swettings, but then goes black (not part of the suual windows loading routine), then comes up with the new gamma settings. I have enabled the ATI Tray Tools to be loaded with windows at startup. It is there.

Jumped into a game, played a minute, return to desktop: Dark default settings again. Tray Tool is no more. Need to manually start it again. Hotkeys do not work, neither with nor without tray tools active.

tried to contact the mail store in order to negotiate a return and replacement with an nVidia board whose drivers since ten years haven't given me any trouble. Already closed for weekend, great. Googled again, with different search, found that I am not the only one having problems with messed up ATI software. Should have stayed with what has been proven reliable and good since over ten years for me, nVidia. Wanted to do that from the beginning - why, oh why haven't I? For what I have gotten, even 200 Euros is too much. Good hardware without reliable software is worth only the half.

Thank You Gizz for the info about the atiicdxx.ini file. I d/L'd the driver setup from
Omega's site and apparently the above file was indeed missing. Thankfully I had a
copy of the driver download from Acer for my machine. I was able to easilly point my Omega installer to the file located there. I can appreciate how someone less
experienced could have a problem with this. As of yesterday Omega still had "old"
download. Don't know how you came up with this but thanks again. I am not a gamer
but I do appreciate the fine control Omega's drivers give me over ATi's crappy programs.
BTW, I downloaded the above and used to reinstall after uninstall and worked
perfectly!!!
