Agreed. May not be realistic late in the war, but sometimes when it comes to skins something looks so damn good you have to mess with it.

Example, I did a couple of IL-2 Skins that were very non-historic but well recieved. An Me-262 in modern RCAF livery, and a P-80 in 70's RCAF.. looked sweet!

Did they even ever paint the hulls of Uboats red?

From everything I have read and seen in books this is a misconception and was never actual done.

Though it is pretty cool looking.

Because people usually mod the things THEY want. Somebody might do one for a friend, but maybe you should learn how to do it yourself. Modding isn't easy, you know.

Life is about compromise. I uploaded the best the community has to give when it comes to your skin request. I'm certain BdU didn't honor every request it received. Go sink some shipping!

Yes,
from what I remember the red was not actually a paint, but something to prevent the rust.
All the hull was "paint" with this rust-protective film, then only the upper parts (i.e. everything that will normally stay above the water) were painted in dark grey or camo.
No need to put the sub in a drydock to paint something (lower hull) that will never been seen from above the water.
I guess that later in the war, the dark paint in the lower sub hull could be for rust prevention too...but not sure.
