AMD GPU by chance? Been having this issue too, and I've had it with a game or two in the past, and it's always been down to some sort of memory issue specific to interactions between Unity and AMD.

Can you set to a lower refreshrate via the same screen settingspanel? See if you hold out longer.

Do your GPU fans spin up massively when the black screen occurs? Do you have to force a restart with the power button?
