After quite a few years I've finally returned to SUBSIM and after installing SH5 and TWOS I must say.....I'm totally dazzled! With so much time away from Uboats the learning curve is pretty steep but I'm loving every second of the challenge.

My one problem, so far, is that I can get almost no markings or Icons to show on either the TAI or Navigator's Map for than seconds.

If I ask the navigator for our present position after a brief wait it will show in the TAI chart. If I have my map tools marker in hand and mark the the small circular blue dot showing my position then that mark will remain; if not it disappears in about 30 seconds.

Can anyone tell me how I can make marks, icons, etc. remain on the map for a usable amount of time? If it might be involved in the problem I'm using Real Navigation

Thanks in advance shipmates,
Quink

I don't use RN, but saving marks and messages should go this way:

On your main navigation map, in the icon groups on the right, there is your Captain's Log and below the log of all crew messages. In this window, you can 'save journal'. Enter a name and press Continue or OK on the lower right.
All your supermarks and radio messages as well as your destroyed marks (ships sunk) will be saved when you save game. No need to save journal for saving your Captain's Log, this is saved by the game everytime.
Normal marks that you did with protractor, circle, etc. will not be saved and disappear if your reload game.

You will have to reload everytime this journal when you load game. Chose 'Load journal' in the same window and enter the name you've entered before. You also have access to your journal in the main menu.

XenonSurf,

Thanks for the fast response!

The fault is probably mine for, perhaps, not making myself clear enough about the object I'm trying to achieve.

That object is not to save these position marks, both my own and those of potential targets, for use in some future saved game but rather in the current game I'm playing at that time. I use them for attack plotting in the current game but as I mentioned in my original post they disappear way to fast to be useful, in about one to two minutes.

I'm wide open to any suggestions from anyone!

Thanks,
Quink

Sorry for misreading you, I regret to say that I don't play Real Navigation, this is surely related, so I hope you soon get your responses to this. Maybe open another topic, because it's a bit secondary to this one I think.

Cheers,

Reinstalled latest TWOS all is fine but i get alot of CTD in first Baltic Operations mission where i have to intercept Polish Task Force , when i see them i send status and contact report , after a bit of time and some TC i get CTD without any error message
SH5.exe set to Windows 7 compatibility and run as administrator.
Windows 10 Pro (with latest updates)
GTX 1080 (latest NVIDIA drivers)
16GB RAM
i5-8600k 5.0 GHz
Tried to install NET Framework 4 which TWOS suggested to install but it said "Same or higher version of .NET Framework 4 has already been installed on this computer."

The problem is that i dont see any crash logs generated.
Is it problem with Microsoft Visual C++ wrong version i have ? I've heard that SH5 is very picky about which C++ version you have installed , I have alot of them installed.

Microsoft Visual C++ 2013 Redistributable (x64) - 12.0.30501
Microsoft Visual C++ 2012 Redistributable (x64) - 11.0.61030
Microsoft Visual C++ 2012 Redistributable (x86) - 11.0.61030
Microsoft Visual C++ 2008 Redistributable (x64) - 9.0.30729.6161
Microsoft Visual C++ 2010 Redistributable (x64) - 10.0.40219
Microsoft Visual C++ 2013 Redistributable (x86) - 12.0.30501
Microsoft Visual C++ 2017 Redistributable (x64) - 14.13.26020
Microsoft Visual C++ 2013 Redistributable (x86) - 14.10.25008
Microsoft Visual C++ 2010 Redistributable (x86) - 10.0.40219
Microsoft Visual C++ 2005 Redistributable
Microsoft Visual C++ 2008 Redistributable (x86) - 9.0.21022
